The Brecksville Police Department houses a twelve day, eight bed facility. The jail is staffed 24 hours a day by state certified corrections officers, each of whom has completed a 56 hour training course and state exam. In addition, each CO receives continuous updates and training throughout the year.
The jail has seen an 30-40% increase in holdings in recent years, as Cuyahoga County has reached maximum capacity. This results in more prisoners being housed in city jail facilities countywide.
The jail administrator, Police Lieutenant Mannarino is responsible for assuring that the facility passes yearly certifications by the Ohio Bureau of Adult Detention and random checks conducted by the County Health Department. Care is also given to prisoner menus, which have been approved by a licensed dietician.
During the school year, elementary classes will often visit the police station for tours, and the jail is always a big hit.
