The Brecksville Dispatch Center handles all incoming calls for both the police and fire department.  They are responsible for gathering information from the caller and dispatching the appropriate personnel or relay the information to them.  Dispatchers have many other responsibilities and must often multi task between 2 or 3 tasks simultaneously.  Besides answering all incoming calls and dispatching emergency personnel, they also monitor Brecksville’s police and fire radio as well as other cities police and fire radio traffic, print reports, log information, perform administrative tasks and access the police computer for information.  In 2015 The Brecksville Dispatch Center handled 12,643 calls for service that required police action.  This does not include the enormous amount of calls for information the dispatch center fields every year.

The Brecksville Dispatch Center consists of 6 full time dispatchers and 2 part time dispatchers.  One of the full time dispatchers splits her duties between working at the dispatch desk and giving administrative support to the Police Administration and Detective Bureau.
